I get daily quotes on my e-mail through LDS gems.
This week I got two quotes within three days about pornography. So I took the hint and am sharing them with you all. They're both from Elder Richard G. Scott's conference talk called "To Acquire Spiritual Guidance" (one of my favorite talks that's linked on the side bar).
The Damning Influence of Pornography
"Satan has become a master at using the addictive power of pornography to limit individual capacity to be led by the Spirit. The onslaught of pornography in all of its vicious, corroding, destructive forms has caused great grief, suffering, heartache, and destroyed marriages. It is one of the most damning influences on earth."
The Addictive Power of Pornography
"Whether it be through the printed page, movies, television, obscene lyrics, vulgarities on the telephone, or flickering personal computer screen, pornography is overpoweringly addictive and severely damaging. This potent tool of Lucifer degrades the mind and the heart and the soul of any who use it. All who are caught in its seductive, tantalizing web and remain so will become addicted to its immoral, destructive influence."
Can we all just say a big amen Elder Scott!?
Amen Elder Scott and thank you LDS Wife for writing this blog!!! I'm an LDS woman battling a sex addiction with the support of my husband, and am looking forward to the day when porn and sex addiction (and all addictions, really) can be seen as the open attacks by Satan that they are - and given the attention such warfare deserves.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you, I'll be praying for you...
Love, your Sister in the Gospel
It is so amazing how detrimental a pornography addiction is to the family unit.
ReplyDeleteMy family is not as it should be because we have to deal with this each day.
Yes, pornography sucks. But when a person recovers from this addiction they are one of the best people you could ever meet. If a wife embraces recovery for herself, she can then know God like she has never before thought possible.
ReplyDeleteI am a daughter of God - I should not have to "deal" with this garbage in my life. I was raised in love and trust in this gospel and have ended up with trash.

ReplyDeleteI used to feel like I was "cheated" because I had to deal w/ this in my life. Now I feel like it is a great blessing in my life. But it has been quite a journey from one place to another. For me I had to go through Hell before I could truly know Heaven.
